Balance

What is
Ayurveda?

It is an indigenous tradition of India. It is one of the oldest healthcare systems in the world.

Ayurveda sheds wisdom on how to keep balance in our mind, body, and soul. It understands that our physical well-being is connected to the mental, emotional, and spiritual realms. Ayurveda views our body, our senses, our mind, and our soul as all connected and capable of giving us the information we need to cure ourselves. It sees us as whole. It also sees nature as medicine because everything found in nature has the potential to heal. Even the sun, mud, water have powerful qualities that can be used as medicine.

Ayurveda emphasizes prevention. It is better to prevent rather than to cure. The use of medications or therapeutic measures provided by an Ayurvedic treatment or lifestyle works on the belief that dis-ease is caused when an equilibrium of the bio-energies within us is disrupted. According to Ayurveda, diseases are not only psychic or somatic. Ayurveda considers that there is a relationship between the mind (psyche) and body (soma), and it emphasizes health not for health's sake, but to help us achieve longevity.

Ayurveda holds that the exercise of mental, personal, and public hygiene leads to safer bodies and communities for if we conserve inner and outer hygiene and balance, we are bound to prevent disease and toxicity from building up. Through wisdom, discipline, decency, and devotion, Ayurveda holds that it is possible to maintain the equilibrium of body and mind and develop resistance power to fight any disease. In turn, we will live long lives in a state of harmony and contentment, which in turn enables us to pursue our dharma – that is, to live out our soul's purpose on this planet.

Candle in Hands

Ayurvedic counseling:

1. Is holistic care tailored to your uniqueness

2. Educates you to get to know your body better

3. Helps you to know what your body is compatible with and what it is not compatible with

4. Supports your decision-making as to what you ingest and how you spend your time for better digestion and an increased feeling of balance

5. Helps you address issues that are draining your energy, peace of mind, and worry

7. Corrects current ailments

8. Prevents you from developing future ailments

Benefits

1. Unlike conventional medicine, you might experience Ayurvedic regimens taking much longer than swallowing an ibuprofen or slathering a steroid cream to peace a rash (my personal favorites).

Remember: Ayurveda helps to bring your body to balance, and it addresses the root cause of issues. The effectiveness is not in the speed, but in addressing the root cause, and this takes time and patience. The result will be a stronger and more resilient body.

2. Requires us to slow down and take note of body processes perhaps we take for granted.

Remember: This is due to our fast-moving culture, and you're not alone!
